Alan Carter, a resident of Lisle, Illinois, is a former painter and designer and builder of contemporary furniture. As a professional woodturner he designs and creates turned vessels and sculptures. In his demonstration he created an incredibly thin finial, a suspended vessel, and vessel made from a bowl that was cut in half and glued together. He also describes how he decorates the pieces, including taking advantage of his knowledge from painting.
